Tim Cook has said sorry for Apple Maps
In the wake of a highly-successful launch for the iPhone 5, Apple faced a rare setback after users of its new iOS 6 software began reporting several problems with the new mapping system.
Many users were left frustrated with the system, which has geographical errors, missing information and lacks popular Google Maps features such as Street View and public transport directions (one of the most commonly used features for people living in cities).

MSN UK compiled some of the more-outrageous examples of Maps gone wrong - and you can see those pictures in the gallery below.

Now, in an unbelievable move - Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, has gone on record and publicly apologised for not delivering the "best experience possible" in its Maps app.
Perhaps, even more damning is Cook's recommendation to "try alternatives by downloading map apps from the App Store like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps." You can try out Bing Maps for yourself here.

    Tim Cook's full apology follows:

    To our customers,
At Apple, we strive to make world-class products that deliver the best experience possible to our customers. With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment. We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused our customers and we are doing everything we can to make Maps better.
We launched Maps initially with the first version of iOS. As time progressed, we wanted to provide our customers with even better Maps including features such as turn-by-turn directions, voice integration, Flyover and vector-based maps. In order to do this, we had to create a new version of Maps from the ground up.
There are already more than 100 million iOS devices using the new Apple Maps, with more and more joining us every day. In just over a week, iOS users with the new Maps have already searched for nearly half a billion locations. The more our customers use our Maps the better it will get and we greatly appreciate all of the feedback we have received from you.
While we're improving Maps, you can try alternatives by downloading map apps from the App Store like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps by going to their websites and creating an icon on your home screen to their web app.
Everything we do at Apple is aimed at making our products the best in the world. We know that you expect that from us, and we will keep working non-stop until Maps lives up to the same incredibly high standard.
    Tim Cook
    Apple's CEO

Has Tulisa been taking tips from Katie Price on how to dress for a book signing?

Yesterday we reported that Tulisa looked stunning at the launch of her first autobiography; however, one day on and it seems that things have taken a turn for the worse.
Tulisa gave fans more than they bargained for at her book signing. [Copyright Rex]

Arriving at a book signing in Milton Keynes (oh the glamour), Tulisa went from looking her best to 'look at my chest'.
Perhaps she'd taken a leaf out of Katie Price's guide to dressing for a book signing (now there's a book waiting to happen).
Tulisa seemed to be using the same tactics as Katie Price to sell a book. [Copyright Wenn]
Dressed in a black and white mini dress with studded detailing, Tulisa showed off her shiny pins, teaming the outfit with a pair of strappy high heels.
You may not see JK Rowling dressed like this for a book signing but otherwise, so far so good.

However, as the 'Young' singer took her seat to sign the book for fans, Tulisa revealed a lot more than anyone had bargained for.
Well that's one way to sell a book.

Seemingly unaware that her cleavage was very much on show, Tulisa smiled for the cameras.
She later readjusted her seat which, thankfully, saved the X Factor judge from sharing more than her past experiences detailed in the book.
Jessie J was also out promoting her autobiography dressing more appropriately. [Copyright Wenn]
In other book signing news, Jessie J was also on the charm offensive at a Waterstones in London promoting her autobiography.
Unlike Tulisa, Jessie decided to wear a somewhat more demure outfit, covering up in a purple leopard print blouse and black skinny jeans.

Justin Bieber reacts badly to vegan diet, girlfriend Selena Gomez brands him a ‘jerk’

Most girlfriends like to encourage their boyfriend to eat healthily but in Selena Gomez's case, it seems she wants nothing more than for Justin Bieber to eat a greasy Big Mac.
Selena hasn't taken kindly to Justin's new attitude since becoming vegan. [Copyright Wenn]

The power pop couple's relationship reportedly became heated following Justin's decision to go vegan.
It seems that Justin Bieber sans meat isn't a great combination.

Star magazine reports that girlfriend Selena Gomez was less than impressed with the way the diet had effected the Biebs, allegedly saying it had 'turned him into a jerk'.
An insider told Star magazine: "She [Selena] had encouraged the health kick but told him to drop it. She said that being vegan turned Justin into a jerk."
Usher encouraged Bieber to go vegan. [Copyright Wenn]
The source continued: "His mood took a major nose dive — he was such a brat."
"Soon everyone was begging him to just eat a steak!"
And sounds like Justin was acting like a total 'Baby' (see what we did there) after taking a disliking to tofu steak when out for dinner.
"Justin ordered a tofu steak and tempeh tacos from Real Food Daily in L.A. and was really grossed out. He made a big show of spitting out the food and making gagging noises."
Justin decided to cut meat out of his life after he was encouraged by mentor Usher to try out the vegan lifestyle.
Little did Usher know, he'd be creating a monster.

Rihanna and Jessie J have a pyjama fashion off, we get analysing bedroom habits

Now whilst we try as best we can to rock up to work in our bed clothes, we never go quite as far as wearing pyjamas to work (as we reckon we may get sent home with a detention).
Rihanna, Jessie J, pyjamasRihanna and Jessie J have a pyjama off. Copyright [Wenn/Rex]
But two celebrities who are living the dream right now are Rihanna and Jessie J, who both donned their PJs for star-studded events yesterday.
Our very own Jessie J took things to new levels of comfort as she arrived at Capital Radio wearing a *ONESIE* pyjama ensemble.
Jessie looked pretty smug as she posed for paps looking as if she'd just rolled out of bed in the all-in-one checked affair which she teamed with Nike high-tops.
Jessie J, fashion, pyjamasJessie J looked more than a little bit smug to be dressed in her nightwear. Copyright [Wenn]
Meanwhile Bajan goddess Rihanna hit NYC in what also looked like something we'd laze around in bed wearing.
The 24-year-old took inspiration from the catwalks (because believe it or not PJs are hot right now) as she donned a satin shirt and trousers print combo.
She paired the cream and gold two-piece with tan sandals and lashings of pink lippy - but still looked like she'd be more at home on a duvet and pillow than at the swanky new opening of Jay-Z's club.
Rihanna, PJs, fashionRihanna also opted for the bed-wear look. Copyright [Rex]
To Ri Ri's credi, she did undo most of the buttons on her top to give the baggy blouse a hint more sex appeal.
But let's face, it she was still hanging with the cool dudes of New York in all-but her nightie.
It's not the first time the 'Bad Girl' singer has gone for nightwear as daywear, as she previously wore a Japanese-style satin pair of PJs to promote her film Battleship.
But what do each girl's bedtime choices *really* say about them? Time for some science courtesy of Yahoo!'s Fashion Team who told us:
"It seems these celebs have taken the pyjama trend a tad too literally.
Jessie J looks like she's just rolled out of bed in her checked onesie (that definitely screams grandpa rather than sexy), although to give her credit where it's due - the checkered trend is something we saw all over the AW12 catwalks.
And Rihanna looks only marginally better in her silk, tie dye two-piece. She's sexed up the look (typical Riri) by only doing up one button to reveal a lacy bra underneath, whilst adding a slick of red lipstick and a statement necklace. Definitely shows she's a bit of a minx in the bedroom.
But maybe next time leave your pyjamas for the bedroom, ladies."

Katy Perry ‘devastated’ after ex boyfriend Johnny Lewis is found dead

Katy Perry is believed to be absolutely 'devastated' after receiving news that her ex, Johnny Lewis, has been found dead in LA.

The actor is believed to have murdered his 81-year-old landlady before officers discovered his body underneath a balcony outside the house.
He had been released from prison just six days earlier after serving time for assault.
It is unclear at this point whether Lewis jumped or fell to his death.
Police officers arrived at the home where Johnny was renting a room to find the landlady dead and two other men injured, saying Johnny had attacked them with 'superhuman strength'.

It's believed Johnny was under the influence of PCP, a hallucinogenic drug, when he seemingly decided to leap from the balcony after reportedly killing the old lady.
"There was obviously something wrong with him. What that was exactly is not known to us at this time," a police officer told the New York Daily News.
Katy was with Johnny in 2006. Copyright: [rex]
Johnny starred in The OC and more recently, Sons Of Anarchy. He dated Katy Perry in 2006 - they appeared countless times on red carpets together.
Katy is believed to be devastated, however she was aware of Johnny's destructive personality when they were dating.
A source told US magazine: "He was in trouble then and she couldn't help him. A lot of her songs were partially inspired by him."
A truly awful story to start off the day.

Victoria Beckham’s teen modelling pictures revealed

Back in 1992 unknown teen Victoria Adams first tried her hand at modelling. Who would ever have thought that twenty years later, the girl in these shots would be fashion designer and super stylish LA clotheshorse Victoria Beckham?
In these never-seen-before pictures a fresh-faced Victoria poses in a selection of quintessential 90s outfits that no doubt would make her cringe now.

Left: Victoria profile in 1992. Right: Victoria in Japan's Harper's Bazaar 2009
The 90s images were taken by Geoff Marchant and show Victoria straddling a bar chair cabaret-style and doing her best Flashdance impression.

Before developing her signature style, VB appears no stranger to experimenting, sporting leather waistcoats and jackets (braless) and even flaunted some side boob! Other snaps show proof that Posh can smile after all, as she happily engages with the camera.
Left: Victoria pouts in 1992. Right: Victoria in British Vogue in 2011
While examining the images of Victoria now and then we have noticed that she has kept a few early-days modelling tricks up her sleeve.

The distant pouty stare is very VB à la British Vogue in February 2011, her lounging position brings to mind her ultra glam shoot for Harpers Bazaar UK in March this year and the pose with the wooden stool is just like her shoot for Elle back in January.
Left: Victoria on a stool in 1992. Right: Victoria revists the stool for Elle in 2012
Victoria may have left her modelling career behind for world domination behind the design table but she hasn’t lost her touch.

Best- and worst-dressed men in football

While his style isn't always spot on (pink roll necks, dodgy jeans and over-blinged T-shirts anyone?), Ashley Cole's wardrobe has drastically improved in recent years.

The Chelsea star grew up in tracksuits and trainers - 'I used to dress like a tramp,' he once said - and he credits estranged wife Cheryl Cole with his fashion makeover. These days, Ashley has graduated to smart three-piece charcoal grey suits that are far removed from the unforgettable satin Roberto Cavalli suit he wore on his wedding day

In the world of football, Frank Lampard is known as a bit of a renaissance man with a proven IQ and an A* in Latin, qualifications which have obviously rubbed off on his intelligent style of dress.

As a confirmed supporter of the Conservative party, Frank's political leanings seem to influence his dress sense. The England player opts for classic Prada suits on the red carpet, mixing the jacket with vintage jeans in casual moments. He's also an advocator of pink, proving that real men can wear the colour.

Ex-Manchester United player Dwight Yorke was once nicknamed the Smiling Assassin because of his goal scoring abilities and constant smile. His dress sense, however, is nothing to smile about.
Yorke has a fondness for white suits, sheepskin jackets, vests, bandanas and too much bling, all often accessorised with a glamour model like Jordan on his arm. Dwight could improve on his style by steering clear of the white suits, opting for a neutral shade instead, and toning down the bling accessories.

One-time Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo may have modelled for Armani and Energy, but his fashion sense definitely veers more towards Eurotrash style than high fashion chic.

From his tight pink shorts to Louis Vuitton man bags, Ronaldo's outlandish Mediterranean style never really translated to the rainy streets of Manchester - shaved legs and flowers-in-the-hair having never really taken off with the men of the city. While we salute Cristiano's bravery, we can't say we hanker after his wardrobe.

Voting him the worst-dressed player in the Manchester United dressing room, Wayne Rooney's teammates gave the striker plenty of stick for his dodgy clothes. Defender John O'Shea said: 'He obviously pays quite a lot for his gear but it obviously doesn't work for him.'
Having tried (and failed) to carry off the English gent look in hunting jackets and heritage checks, Rooney was obviously alone in thinking he looked good. Maybe Wayne needs to look to his fashion icon wife, Coleen, for a helping hand in the fashion department.

England defender, film producer, record label owner, media mogul - and still Rio Ferdinand finds time to stay sharp. He was once crowned GQ's best-dressed man and Rio's look is always onside.

Ferdinand's dad was a tailor, so fashion is in his blood. He has his own fashion footwear range called Five and cites Gucci loafers and Tom Ford aftershave as two of his style must-haves. And his style advice? 'Don't try to rock too many fashion trends at once and never wear white socks,' he says.

Former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola is the youngest Champions League-winning manager ever, and also one of the sharpest dressers in football.
Pep's presence pitch-side is markedly different from most football coaches, his tailored bespoke suits and monogrammed shirts a sharp contrast to the gum-chewing style of the likes of Alex Ferguson. Guardiola also has the knack of knowing how to wear a fine knit jumper under a suit - a look a lot of us fail to carry off due to the unforgiving clinginess of fine knits.

    Packard Bell EasyNote TV

Packard Bell Easynote TV (© Packard Bell EasyNote TV)
    What is it?
The latest addition to PackBell's affordable EasyNote range.
    What's great?
A good, basic laptop that costs just £399.
    What's not?
Pentium processor provides only modest performance.
    Bottom line
One of the better budget laptops we've seen this year.
We're not sure why Packard Bell called this the EasyNote TV, since it doesn't have a TV tuner built into it. Most of Packard Bell's laptops are called 'TS-this' or 'TX-that', so we reckon they just ran out of letters.
What is appealing, though, is the EasyNote's very reasonable price tag. It's not exactly state-of-the-art, but it provides a perfectly decent 15.6-inch screen and a respectable amount of horsepower for just £399.
Admittedly, the design of the EasyNote is rather old school. It's based around an Intel Pentium processor, which is something we haven't seen in a laptop for a year or two. It is, however, a relatively recent 2011 version of the Pentium, consisting of a dual-core chip running at a healthy 2.2GHz. It doesn't have the graphics horsepower to handle the latest 3D action games, but it'll be fine for a spot of Farmville on Facebook, as well as emailing, web surfing and a bit of wordprocessing.
The EasyNote TV also has 4GB of memory and a 500GB hard disk - which isn't massive, but should still be large enough to store a good assortment of music, photos and videos. There's a built-in DVD player and HDMI port for hooking it up to a high-def television, as well as a webcam and a slot for memory cards so that you can transfer photos from a digital camera.
Another feature that we haven't seen for a while is a removable battery pack. Many laptops require a bit of screwdriver action in order to get at the battery, while Apple positively forbids you from daring to open up any of its immaculate little toys. However, a simple flick of a switch pops the battery out of the EasyNote, making it easy to swap in a replacement if you need extra battery life on a long flight or train ride.
You probably won't need a spare battery, though. A low-cost laptop like this obviously won't match the 5-6 hours that you get from more expensive Ultrabooks, but it managed a respectable 3hrs 45mins when using the built-in wifi to stream video off the BBC iPlayer.
The EasyNote TV is also quite well built for such a low-cost machine. The plastic casing is sturdier than some of the other budget laptops we've seen recently, and the 15.6-inch screen produces a clear, sharp image. It could perhaps be a little brighter, but it's still perfectly fine for watching video or browsing through your photo library. The speakers are a bit tinny, but you can always plug in a set of headphones if you want to.
The only disadvantage is that the EasyNote TV weighs in at about 2.5Kg, so it's fairly hefty to carry around with you. Even so, that's still about average for a laptop with a 15.6-inch screen, and the EasyNote TV is a good choice for anyone that wants a basic laptop without spending a fortune.
Packard Bell EasyNote TV is rated at four out of five stars by MSN Tech & Gadgets (© Packard Bell Easynote TV Review)

Cameron's a winner in US despite quiz fail

As the British press derides David Cameron for his ignorance of obscure historical questions, Ewan Watt says the performance earned the PM many fans across the Atlantic.
Nearly a decade ago, Tony Blair was treated to a rock star reception in the United States. Amidst the war in Afghanistan and military intervention in Iraq, Blair was America's most visible ally, a steadfast – and thoroughly articulate – proponent in the so-called "war on terror". Nine years on, our cousins across the pond still can’t get enough of him.
Americans, however, have not had the same opportunity to enamour themselves to David Cameron. In truth, his time should be now. Thanks to two years of royal celebrations, an exceptional 2012 Games and the cult of Downton Abbey, "Brand Britannia" has never been stronger. We didn't do too badly at the Emmys the other night either.

And without wading too much into the prime minister's well-heeled background, he is undoubtedly the kind of person most Americans picture leading their closest ally. Selling Cameron to the American public right now is hardly the most difficult task in the world. Or at least it shouldn’t be.
Hours after chastising the United Nations' General Assembly for their inaction in Syria, the prime minister would get his moment of Atlantic exposure on The Late Show with David Letterman, a one-time funny-man who despite his chequered history, still occasionally pulls in a viewership the size of Wales. It was a strange setting for the prime minister.

Cameron, unlike Blair, can come across as awkward and does not possess the same gift of self-deprecation, something that’s crucial on any American chat show. On shows like Letterman, when you’re told that you’re a guest, you’re more of a play thing for the host to humiliate. Given that it’s Letterman, who wasn’t even funny back when Cameron was advising Norman Lamont, it’s all the more painful.
"These appearances are seldom a roaring success, but an exercise in damage control"
Cameron, unfairly, will be largely remembered for his shortcomings on British history. Challenged by Letterman to answer some "dumb American questions", Cameron failed to translate the term 'Magna Carta' and answer correctly who wrote Rule Britannia, leaving the prime minister protesting "I have ended my career on your show tonight."

Among discussing other matters such as Europe, the Empire, the Olympics, domestic austerity, and Britain's burning of the White House 200 years ago, the British media will salivate watching Cameron fail in his history test. It's what we enjoy doing.

To an American audience, however, Cameron came across as a good sport and informed, diplomatically discussing thorny issues in his host country such as gun control and the profiligate spending in US presidential elections without coming across as patronising. A rare breed. For exposure to a US audience, it was a pretty good try out.
"On the show, the prime minister acknowledged that in Britain he was “not very popular at the moment.”
From polls, that's certainly true. But even if he's no Blair, Cameron was inherently likeable and all too willing to be the diminutive figure and play along with his host.

That's the point of the show. And even if people don’t like him back home in Blighty, "sounding like the guy from the film (the King's Speech)" will certainly win him a few friends over here.

X Factor Judges’ Houses first look: Nicole Scherzinger and Tulisa arrive in style

This weekend will see the return of the X Factor's judges' houses and from what we can see, it is set to be the most glamorous to date.

Both arriving by yacht, Tulisa and Nicole Scherzinger look like they will be making quite the entrance on meeting their categories at their respective houses in St Lucia and Dubai.
Joining Gary at his house in Northamptonshire, Cheryl Cole manages to overshadow the Take That judge's laid back entrance by arriving via helicopter.

We wonder if she got Simon to pay for that...
As for Louis Walsh and aide Sharon Osbourne, both seem more than happy in their Las Vegas hotel surroundings.
And it seems that neither is particularly unimpressed with their topless waiter .

As for the contestants, all of them look rather in awe of their surroundings.

They may be all smiles in the group shots but don't be fooled, each and every one of them is probably more focused on how to impress their judge rather than making lifelong friends.

One contestant who seems to realise this is Essex boy Rylan who has dressed to impress for the occasion.

Channelling Kylie Minogue's wardrobe circa 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head', we wonder what guest mentor Tinie Temper will make of Rylan's outfit.
And we thought his shoulder pads made of what looked like Nicole's hair extensions was out there.

Liberty Ross steps out wearing her wedding ring

She has kept a dignified silence since it was revealed that husband Rupert Saunders had cheated with Kristen Stewart but now it looks like Liberty Ross' marriage could be back on track.

The model turned actress was seen wearing her wedding ring for the first time since the split as she stepped out in front of the cameras while attending a Janelle Monae concert at Club Nokia in L.A.
However Liberty wasn't wearing the ring on her wedding finger, rather her middle.
Showing off her svelte figure Liberty posed in a pair of tight leather trousers, teamed with a leather jacket and faded white t-shirt.

On Monday night, the actress had been seen out celebrating her 34th birthday with her estranged husband Rupert being noticeably absent.
Instead, Liberty was joined by her close friend Simon where the two celebrated at LA nightclub Eleven.

Talking to US gossip site RumourFix that evening, Liberty didn't mention if her marriage was on the mend.
She did however make reference to the cheating scandal and the effect it has had on her private life.
She told the site: "If it weren't for Simon, I would not be out. I'm a very private girl."
"Nobody knew who I was before he cheated and I liked it better that way. I'm here at Eleven and you recognised me.
"I bet had this scandal not have taken place, you would have walked right passed me."
It was rumored this weekend that Robert Pattinson had proposed to Kristen Stewart in a bid to save their relationship following her public indiscretion.

X Factor Ella Henderson makes Nicole Scherzinger cry, is she the new front runner?

Everyone has been talking about Lucy Spraggan this series of The X Factor but now it looks like she has some major competition in the form of Ella Henderson.

The 16-year-old singer captivated the judges on last night's Bootcamp with her unique rendition of Cher's 'Believe'.
Nicole Scherzinger was so moved by the teen's performance that she broke down into tears.
Talking to her fellow judges after the performance, Nicole said: "You can't judge that you just have to be honoured"
"We can't touch her, we just have to be in awe of her. I'm done."
Nicole was 'honoured' to watch Ella's performance. [Copyright ITV]
And Gary was also full of the singers praises after admitting that she had made him like one of his top five least favourite songs of all time.
He told Ella: "I've got to say, when I read you were going to sing that song, if I was going to have a top five of the most annoying songs of all time that would come fairly close to the top for me."
"But today I would pay lots of money to hear that version of the song again. That was amazing, well done."
And it seems that it wasn't only Nicole and Gary who were impressed with her performance.
Last night saw the contestant trending on Twitter before her song had even finished.
Overwhelmed with the support, Ella took to Twitter to thank her newly acquired fans.
She tweeted: "Night everyone!! This support is just unreal!! Xxxxxx #EllaTo50K #teamgirls"
Ella is one of the final 24 contestants who have made it through to next weekend's Judges houses stage.

According to The Sunday Mirror, the X Factor Judge has decided to purchase the property in a bid to be closer to her boyfriend Lewis Hamilton.
A source told the paper: "Nicole decided to look for a house soon after she began working on The X Factor."
"She loves London and wants a home here. It's much nearer to Lewis, who has a home in Monaco [and] it means she will be able to spend much more time with him."

Hamilton's busy work schedule has previously meant that Nicole has had to travel across the globe in order to spend time with him.
The source revealed that because of this, moving to London made perfect sense to Nicole.
They said: "He spends a lot of time on the racing circuit so seeing each other can sometimes be a challenge."
"This, along with her increased workload in Britain, has made moving a no-brainer."

The purchase however could also be a shrewd career move by Nicole who hopes that it will show Simon Cowell that she is committed to the UK X Factor by moving.
The source explained: "[Scherzinger] also hopes that being in the UK will put her in pole position for Simon Cowell to take her on for next year's series."
"Nicole will keep her home in Los Angeles because she will always need a base there... She loves it there. She has lots of friends and records much of her music out in LA too."
Rumors that guest judge Mel B would be taking over from Nicole on next year's show emerged last week after audiences had failed to warm to the newly appointed judge.
