Naomi Campbell shrugs off balding pictures at Olympic charity dinner

Naomi Campbell put shocking pictures of her balding hair behind her last night as she attended a glamourous charity Olympic dinner.

The 42-year-old, whose shocking receding hairline was pictured yesterday, put on a brave face as she hosted a Fashion For Relief do in Mayfair.
Dressed in a long black gown with lace detail, the supermodel smiled as she posed for photographers on the red carpet at Downton Mayfair in London.

And she wowed guests as she showed off her toned physique and beautiful features in the strappy floor-length number.
But despite her hair looking much better than in the original pictures of her holidaying in Ibiza earlier this week, Naomi's thinning hairline could still be seen at her parting.

Naomi didn't seem to care, though, as she grinned and smiled and partied the night away with fellow supermodel Kate Moss at the glitzy bash.

X Factor star Alexandra Burke also attended the do, showing off her amazing figure in a grey maxi with cut-out side panels.
Alexandra Burke was also at the bash - looking gorgeous in a cut-out dress.
Naomi addressed guests at the party saying: 'The 2012 Olympics have been remarkable - I am elated for Team GB and the extraordinary success they have had so far.
"It is a very special and proud time to be in London and to celebrate the outstanding talent, which has been showcased during the games.

"I wish everyone taking part in London 2012 continued strength, determination and perseverance for the remainder of the games."
Other party-goers included Ronnie Wood and Sally Humphries and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York.

Britney Spears makes a VERY hot Egyptian Queen

Britney Spears would almost definitely be the one to steal the attention at your fancy dress party.

The pop princess really just loves a good costume, doesn't she?
So we weren't surprised to see this pic of the star dressing up as Ancient Egyptian Queen Cleopatra for her latest perfume ad.
We wonder if they really made queens that hot in Ancient Egypt?
However, we think this might be one of our fave Britney dress-ups since she slung that snake around her neck.

Britney posted the pic with the message: "Channeling my inner Cleopatra today @ Elizabeth Arden Fantasy Twist shoot. Fragrance is out in Sept. 1st."
So yes, that means Britney is planning yet another perfume.
It feels like she might just have more of the smelly stuff then she does songs nowadays.
However, Britney has also been keeping herself busy with USA X Factor on which she is a newbie judge

Yesterday, Britney tweeted a link to the latest promo vid, and Twitter went absolutely mad with over 1000 people rewtweeting the vid already.

Kate Middleton flirts, giggles and has fun at Olympics yesterday

Kate Middleton has a lot to smile about, not only did she bag herself a prince and the amazing wardrobe that comes with it, she also has tickets to nearly almost every Olympic sport going…

It's no wonder then that the Duchess of Cambridge giggled her way through the synchronised swimming yesterday but it was all part of the role she took on being the perfect entertainer.

She coquettishly played with her hair and laughed as she chatted to Team GB ambassador, Robin Cousins and Olympic official Jenny Gray.

And Kate was the perfect hostess as she greeted Prince Albert of Monaco with a kiss, before making a joke that had everyone in hysterics.
The small swarm around the brunette appeared as captivated by her as the press and public are.

For the event, the style icon stuck to her usual Olympic uniform of dark jeans and a polo shirt with the Union Jack taking pride of place on her arm.
Her hair was perfectly in place, as was her make-up, we're still baffled by how she can look beautiful every day — does she ever take time off from looking amazing?

After the aquatic event, the royal joined her brother-in-law, Prince Harry to meet more of Team GB's athletes.
She smartened up for the occasion donning her much-loved Smythe blazer and comfy wedges by Stuart Weitzman for Russell & Bromley.

Memorable moments: Ballistic Bolt

Before the emergence of the languid, loping Usain Bolt at Beijing in 2008, the 100m - athletics' blue riband event - was in risk of losing its hallowed status.

The purest test of athletic prowess had descended into a vein-popping spectacle of snarling beefcakes charging through a haze of testosterone and controversy.
The first man to cross the line in three of the previous five Olympic finals had tested positive for performance enhancing drugs - Ben Johnson after the 1988 final, Linford Christie and Justin Gatlin years later (they kept their medals).

Then came Bolt, a man fuelled by nothing more potent than chicken nuggets and yams. He smiled at the start line, he interacted with the crowd, and most importantly he ran faster than anyone thought possible.
In an event often decided by millimetres, Bolt embarrassed his 100m rivals, winning the final in a world record of 9.69 seconds that would have been faster had he not started celebrating some 15 metres before the line.
The 200m brought a yet more astonishing victory, breaking Michael Johnson's world record with a time of 19.30, two-thirds of a second ahead of silver medallist Shawn Crawford. Another world record fell in the 4x100m relay.
Bolt has won two Laureus World Sportsman of the Year, and goes to London as the undisputed star attraction.

Olympics star Laura Trott only has eyes for Jason Kenny (David Beckham and Prince Harry who?)

As if the Olympics didn't have enough emotion already (we've been sobbing tears of sporting happiness all week), Laura Trott goes and throws a romance into the mix.

The double Olympic gold medallist has revealed she and her cycling teammate Jason Kenny are dating.
And the sporty pair weren't afraid of showing their emotions as they put on a serious PDA at the Beach Volleyball last night.
Laura Trott may have been chatting away to Prince Harry and just inches from hunk David Beckham but she only had eyes for double-gold-winning Jason as the pair watched the women's final at Horse Guards Parade.

The loved-up duo rubbed noses, gazed into each other's eyes and weren't afraid to lock lips, despite the world watching them, as they chilled out after their team's triumph at the London Games earlier this week.
And Laura Trott took to Twitter this morning (because a relationship is only official once it's been social networked, right?) to announce that she and Jason have been dating in secret.

She tweeted: "So yes its out there me and @JasonKenny107 are dating. Been a little while now just didnt want the distraction before the games x"
Naw.
And by the looks of things the pair are SERIOUSLY into each other as not even the hunk that is David Beckham sitting on the row in front could distract them.
The England player was having a love-in of his own as he cuddled his boys Cruz and Romeo, oblivious of the love-in that was going on behind him.

And earlier in the day Laura was even lucky enough to sit next to Prince Harry during the Bronze medal Beach Volleyball match.
The 20-year-old shared a joke with the cheeky Royal, but she seemed far more interested in her 24-year-old boyfriend.

Laura and Jason aren't the only ones to have looked loved-up at the Olympics this week.
Romance was in the air for none other than Kate Middleton and Prince William gazed into each other's eyes as they watched Wills' cousin Zara Phillips compete.

Are X-Files co-stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny dating?

Just a day after the news broke that Gillian Anderson had split with her long-term partner, comes a report that she’s dating her old X-Files co-star David Duchovny!

Gossip website Celebrity Dirty Laundry is claiming that they have been quietly dating for some time and that she has already moved in with David in Los Angeles. Knowing that Canadian-born Gillian has lived in London for years, we find that a little hard to believe, but this is Celebland, stranger things have happened!

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson
Mulder and Scully, sorry, David and Gillian, have known each other for nearly 20 years and the actress did add fuel to the fire recently when asked by The Sunday Times if she had a partner. She looked uncomfortable when asked and stuttered her way through an answer. “Um…yes…umm…umm,” Gillian said after a long pause. “Say yes,” she scolded herself, befor ending with, “Why do you ask me?”

David’s romantic status is just as mysterious – he and his wife, actress Téa Leoni, split in 2008 but reconciled after he’d received treatment for sex addiction. They split for good last year.

TOWIE’s Lauren Goodger ignores Tom P and Jessica Wright flirting, surrounds self with naked men

Lauren Goodger has done her fair share of crying over men (we'll try to avoid the Mark Wright name from here on in) so it's nice to see her smile through the latest blip in her love life.

Last night's TOWIE saw the grand reveal of Tom Pearce and Jessica Wright's flirting over text and we even witnessed a rather calm Lauren…

Ms Goodger certainly had the last laugh as she's spent today surrounded by semi naked men at Mayfair club, Aura, and it gets better, she was paid to be there and judge/touch their muscles.

It's a tough job, but someone had to do it! We spied Lauren with what looked like a Mojito although she had a pen in her hand so must have been taking it super seriously.

For the occasion she wore a very tight red dress complete with deep v neckline which she teamed with sling back heels.
Joining her at the West London venue was her co-star Frankie Essex who donned a colourful maxi dress with a gold bag and flip flops.
Lauren also roped in glamour model Nicola T to help with her decision; we can't imagine it was a hard day at the office though!

German weightlifter drops barbell on his head, walks away

  • Germany's Matthias Steiner is trapped by the bar as he fails an attempt during the men's +105kg group A weightlifting …
Defending weightlifting gold medallist Matthias Steiner walked away from a terrifying incident on Tuesday when he dropped a barbell weighing 432 pounds on his neck during the Olympic 105+ kg competition.
The German was attempting to snatch 196 kg when his knees and arms buckled, causing the massive weight to fall on top of his head. Steiner collapsed under the barbell and instantaneously flopped while its mass bent his neck and head. He was immediately tended to by medical officials and somehow got to his feet, saluted the crowd and walked off under his own power.
He didn't return to the competition. The Associated Press reports Steiner went to the hospital for precautionary X-rays.
Steiner knew it was going wrong early in the lift. He tried to snatch anyway.
Organizers brought out a shade to block the crowd from seeing physicians and trainers attend to Steiner.
Thanks for the modesty, IOC. Once you've seen a 320-pound man drop 1.5 times his body weight on top of his head and flop around like a rag doll, it's good to cover him up. Wouldn't want to invade his privacy. (Meanwhile, the people sitting on the sides of the arena get a birds-eye view.)
But you can't keep a super-heavyweight weightlifter down. Steiner popped to his feet soon after and walked off to the cheers of the crowd.
Organisers brought out a shade to block the crowd from seeing doctors and trainers attend to Steiner.

Tax football to fund our Olympic dreams

Even cabbies are positive about the Olympics now that the Games have begun.

The capital’s most pessimistic workers have accepted the inconvenience of the Games lanes and have even been heard to say a good word about cyclists (as long as they aren’t allowed out of the sealed velodrome).

But the success of Team GB in these times of austerity has created something of a dilemma. The well-funded sports, like cycling and athletics have brought home glory and gold and will expect the resources to all their successes to continue. Surprise packages such as boxing, judo, gymnastics and the equestrian disciplines will argue that they have earned a greater wodge of cash.

Who wants to pay more tax?

And sports which have disappointed, notably swimming, will suggest that the cost of improvement must be met.

The Telegraph and Independent both ran front pages today demanding more resource for sport and amid tensions in the Coalition, the Tories will find it hard to turn down such populist cries.
But there is a pot of gold. It’s called football. Previously untouchable, the Olympics has brutally exposed the flaws in our ‘beautiful game’. Athletes who compete for the love of what they do; who make genuine sacrifices for what their sport; who speak eloquently and honestly; who can share rooms and spend two weeks with several thousand other athletes with barely a whiff of scandal.

On the other side of the coin, overpaid tax dodgers who bring down our national institutions – whether they be Glasgow Rangers or Royal Bank of Scotland need to be reined in.

Just as the bankers claim, a tax might drive some particularly greedy (or successful depending on your point of view) mercenaries abroad. But football clubs can’t move like banks can, so the impact would be limited. And trimming the ranks of wealthy foreigners might help football find some more of its own home-grown heroes

Come on David Cameron, take this opportunity to safeguard some of the sports that have made us proud.

‘Kate Middleton is down to earth’ says royal friend Ben Fogle

Kate Middleton is adored by almost everyone and not only for her formidable fashion credentials or for the way she's revolutionized the royal family.

It's her active involvement with countless charities that is helping to win the public's affection, and her husband's friend, Ben Fogle who also attended the royal wedding has given us a glimpse into the girl behind the perfect hair and spectacular style.
Ben told omg!: "People are obsessed with Kate because she's accessible. Her and William are very down to earth, generous and kind people."
    Aww — we knew it!

And for a tiny bit more of an insight into life as a royal, we quizzed Ben on what he'd do if he hung out with Kate and Will.
"Go on an anti poaching patrol in Africa," the outdoors-loving presenter told us.
While on the subject of the Duchess, Ben shared his experience at Kate and Wills' big day last year.
"It was an amazing day that I'll never forget," he told us. "I love the fact that my unborn daughter was also able to attend inside my wife's tummy."

But it looks as if his children won't be following in their father's footsteps forging out a career post a reality TV show.
Ben is against his offspring starring in a programme such as Made In Chelsea:
"If they really wanted to [appear on MIC], given that I was on a reality show myself it would be a bit rich to say no, but I might try to persuade them against it."
When we asked if it was a true depiction of life of privileged people, he was straight to the point telling us: "Not one I've ever seen."

Something Ben is passionate about though is the state of the UK beaches as he urges people to keep them clean.
He told us: "We love our beaches, we use our beaches, but we also sometimes ignore the litter on our beaches. Every time you see a piece of litter, don't think someone else will pick it up, pick it up yourself."

X Factor back on screen in 10 days

Tulisa Contostavlos is returning for another series of The X Factor

The X Factor will return in just 10 days with a 75-minute launch show, ITV bosses have confirmed.
Provisional schedules show the programme will be back on August 18 and goes up against a screening of Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull and an edition of The National Lottery: Secret Fortune on BBC1.
Judges for this year's series are Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger. Gary is grieving for the loss of his stillborn daughter Poppy and earlier thanked fans for their "overwhelming" support.
Main rival Strictly Come Dancing - with which the talent contest was involved in a huge ratings battle last year - is not expected to have its launch programme until midway through the following month.
ITV1 will be hoping for a ratings bonanza when The X Factor makes its comeback as it serves up 90 minutes of Simon Cowell's gameshow Red Or Black? on the same evening, split into two shows. And there will also be an edition of The Jonathan Ross Show.
The X Factor will make its return with an audition show at 8pm, sandwiched between the two 45-minute Red Or Black? programmes, while Jonathan is lined up for a 10pm slot.
A rule change means anyone over the age of 16 has been able to enter The X Factor whether they are amateur artists, have had previous deals or currently have a management contract.

Justin Bieber: ‘I can help Prince William with his hair!’

Justin Bieber reckons he could give Prince William a lecture of hair loss prevention.
Justin Bieber reckons he knows how to keep a head of hair! Copyright: [wenn]

Yes, this might just be the most random celebrity story we have heard in a while too!
It seems Justin Bieber thinks of himself as somewhat of a hair expert and has just the solution for anyone who might be thinning on top.
He decided to mainly focus on our dear Prince William after he seems to regard the Royal's follicles as most cause for concern.
Worry about your own barnet, Justin! Copyright: [wenn]
Speaking to Rollercoaster magazine, Justin says how Prince Wills could easily have a full head of hair if he just took a bit of advice.
Justin says: "I mean, there are things to prevent that nowadays, like Propecia. I don't know why Prince William doesn't just get those things, those products. You just take Propecia and your hair grows back. Have you not got it over here?"

Ok, we will admit that maybe the Prince is lacking a little on top, but really Justin!
Now Justin, we know you are young and all that but don't mess with our Prince Wills, us Brits really don't appreaciate that sort of thing!
Perhaps Justin should worry about his own haircut before he starts asking about other peoples.
    *giggles*
We bet he won't find it so funny when his famous bouffant starts to thin.

Farah qualifies for Olympic 5000m final

Farah secured his place in Friday’s 5000m final after qualifying third in his heat in 13.26minutes to ensure his quest for a remarkable double gold haul remains on track.
And the world 5000m champion insisted he was just glad to get through the heat after a hectic few days since being crowned Olympic 10,000m champion on Saturday night.
“It was pretty difficult, I was a bit tired, that 10,000m final took a lot more out of me than I thought," he said.
“I’m happy with where I am now, I’ve got a couple of days to recover and then I’ll come back for the final. It’s nice to be through to the final.
“I’m going to go out there and give 110 per cent and that’s all you can do, it just depends on what my legs allow me. It would have been nice to run a lot slower than I ran in the heats but I just have to recover.”
Sarah Attar became the first female track and field athlete to represent Saudi Arabia at an Olympics when she competed in the women's 800 metres heats.
The 19-year-old, who wore a white head cover, a long sleeved green top and black leggings and sported luminous green running spikes, received a generous ovation from a capacity-crowd at the Olympic stadium as she trailed in last of the eight runners.
"It's an incredible experience," said Attar, who has dual United States citizenship and is a student at Pepperdine University in Los Angeles.
Attar, who clocked two minutes 44.95 seconds - over 43 seconds behind heat winner Janeth Jepkosgei Busienei of Kenya, is the second Saudi woman to compete at the Games following judoka Wojdan Ali Seraj Abdulrahim Shaherkani.
The International Olympic Committee had extended a special invitation to Shaherkani and Attar after it pressed Saudi Arabia to end its ban on female participation.
Some conservative Saudis had criticised their countrywomen's participation in London after Saudi Arabia broke with its practice of sending male-only teams to the world's biggest sports event.

Botham calls for Pietersen row to end

Ian Botham believes dispute between England and Kevin Pietersen, pictured, should be handled in private
Ian Botham believes dispute between England and Kevin Pietersen, pictured, should be handled in private

Former England captain Ian Botham has called on the England and Wales Cricket Board and Kevin Pietersen to settle their differences ahead of the third Investec Test against South Africa at Lord's next week, and claims the stand-off "reflects poorly" on the game.
Pietersen has refused to give any assurances over his Test career beyond the match at Lord's, having talked about "obstacles" that needed to be overcome in order for him to continue after the drawn second match of the series at Headingley earlier this week. But Botham would like to see the matter sorted out ahead of the final clash with the Proteas.
"Those sort of things should be dealt with in private between the people involved, not in the open in the run-up to a huge Test match," Botham wrote in his column in the Daily Mirror.
"It reflects poorly on the team, poorly on the game and poorly on everyone involved. It must be sorted out like grown-ups."
Botham added: "They should not be airing their dirty linen in public."
But Angus Porter, chief executive of the Professional Cricketers' Association, believes Pietersen may not be able to solve his differences with the ECB.
"I can't see any immediate prospect of a rapprochement. He's likely to play next week but it becomes an issue with the next contracts in September," Porter told the Independent.
With Pietersen and many other international players drawn by the riches of the Indian Premier League, Porter believes the status of Test cricket within the game continues to be eroded.
"The primacy of Test cricket is well-intended but the practicalities are that the trend does not support that," he said

British newspaper accidentally hails Dutch dressage team

The nation is going gold-medal crazy at the moment as Great Britain continue to shine at the Olympic Games, but part of our newspapers' efforts to join in the mood of national pride has gone wrong.

The gold medal Team GB won in dressage was Britain's 20th at London 2012 (they added two more later in the day), eclipsing their total of 19 set at Beijing. It was also a first ever medal for the Brits of any colour in the discipline, which has traditionally been dominated by Germany.

But several newspapers - including the Daily Express, Daily Star and Mirror - accidentally pictured another dressage team instead of Britain's gold medallists.

The Express's front page picture for example, shown above, is clearly of the bronze-winning Netherlands team.

The faces of the British dressage team are not recognisable in the same way as the likes of fellow Olympian Sir Chris Hoy, who also won gold on Tuesday — but despite that, there were a few hints for the sub-editors.

The orange on their clothing could have been one. The bronze medals around their necks could have been another.

The gaffe was quickly spotted and passed around on Twitter, where the likes of BBC presenter Clare Balding pointed out the slight to the British stars.

And 'Wednesday's Express' was trending on the social networking site — presumably not for the reasons the paper might have hoped.
