Who's on our Power List? Women Rule the Summer's Biggest Movies

Last summer, it was easy for an actress to get lost in an ensemble cast— "Sex and the City", "Traveling Pants", you get the idea. But this year it's the ladies of summer who are bringing in the big bucks in the biggest movies of the season. Check out our list of power players.

"The Proposal" gave Sandra Bullock her highest grossing opening weekend ever. Megan Fox all but eclipsed her co-star Shia LaBeouf in the “Transformers” sequel, which is already one of the top ten biggest grossing domestic films of all time.

Love her or hate her, Katherine Heigl made it three in a row with “The Ugly Truth”, her third big box office hit following "27 Dresses" and "Knocked Up." Amy Adams, teamed up with Meryl Streep for the second time, in “Julie & Julia”.

Leslie Mann, one of our favorite funny ladies, slid into first place at the box office with “Funny People”. Even in the testosterone-filled “G.I. Joe” the women manage to score their share of the spotlight—we’re talking about Sienna Miller, Rachel Nichols and supermodel Karolina Kurkova, who came by The Thread to tell us what it was like to suit up for her first film role.

Because the summer movie season isn’t complete without a good cry, we had to include sleeper hit “500 Days of Summer” staring Zooey Deschanel. If you haven't heard Zooey sing, download "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?" by She & Him (her band with M. Ward) immediately.

And finally, our pick for the most glam girl of summer is Rachel "The Notebook" McAdams who stars alongside Eric Bana in “The Time Traveler’s Wife". Rachel dazzled us last week at the New York premiere in a super-sexy, summer white Emilio Pucci. We can't wait to see what she wears next.
